Naples FL Homes: Marco Island and Ave Maria
There are even more lovely communities in the Naples area to explore in search of your Naples FL home.
Ave Maria lies between Naples and the farming community of Immokalee (where most of your tomatoes come from during the winter). It is a planned college town that surrounds the new Catholic University, Ave Maria University, that sits at the town center. Though the university and the surrounding community opened in 2007, the planned 8,000 residential units have not yet been filled. Planned amenities include a golf course, water park, dog park, amphitheater, tennis facilities, fitness centers, soccer fields and walking trails. The university and com unity were both planned by Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino’s Pizza.
Marco Island lies about 20 minutes south of Old Naples and is the largest barrier island in the Ten Thousand Islands island chain. With approximately 14,000 year-round residents (and many more in the winter), Marco Island provides all the amenities. It is sprinkled with gated and non-gated communities that consist primarily of single family homes. Some areas of the island have low- and mid-rise condominiums. Marco Island is known for its beautiful beaches- but beware, many of these beaches are private and you’ll need an escort from the community to enjoy them. Homes in Marco Island tend to carry a price premium over other areas of Naples, and you will be hard pressed to find any blue collar neighborhoods in this wealthy enclave.
